Lesson 21: Misplaced Phrases
(2:13)
Marie is relaxing with a book in the conversation pit of her cottage. Her comfy nest is feathered with a variety of colorful throw pillows, and she has a homemade knitted afghan draped over her legs. She is laughing at something in her book. "I just read a misplaced phrase. A phrase should be placed as closely as possible to the word it modifies or describes." She explains what a misplaced phrase or modifier is, then gives us an example by sharing and correcting the misplaced phrase that she discovered in her book, involving a salty sea captain, a seagull, and a red hat.
