David Steven Mielke is a member of The Screen Actor's Guild, The American Federation of Television & Radio Artists, American Actor's Equity, The Association of Canadian Television & Radio Artists, and the Union of BC Performers.

He was born in Campbell River in 1963 and has been raising and educating himself by forging juicy, less trodden paths ever since. He quit school and left home at 15 to begin his search for an intuited life.

In Vancouver BC he studied at the Peripheral Vision Acting Workshop, and volunteered for a non-profit theater company. After spending the summer of '80 on a solitary bicycle trip from Vancouver Island to Los Angeles, CA, he returned to CR to finish high school. During this time he performed in theater productions and arts festivals, studied voice, and won scholarships from the Provincial Government, the Arts Council, the C.Y.M.C., and the Banff School Of Fine Arts. His stage credits included Oklahoma, Grease, Guys & Dolls, Separate Tables, Here We Are, The Music Man, La Boheme, and The Cave Dwellers.

In '82 he moved to Los Angeles, appearing in productions of Blue Is For Boys, Fakers & Fools, Princess & The Pea, Rascal & Clumsy, and Equus. His TV credits included appearances on TJ Hooker, Days Of Our Lives, Santa Barbara, General Hospital, Tribes, Jennifer Slept Here, Hunter, The Hogan Family, Quantum Leap, Columbo, The New Adam-12, Sara, Diff'rent Strokes, Three's A Crowd, Social Studies, Newhart, Square Pegs, Fresh Prince, etc.; as well as doing print work, educational videos, industrial shows, commercials for Japanese and German TV, and student films at USC, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, and Cal State Longbeach. During this time he wrote and staged his own works, Soulcatchers, Couldn't You Have Pretended Anyway? Speaking For Ferdy, You Grow Your Way, and Tilly's Place.

He worked in the mailroom at NBC Studios in Burbank, waited tables at Hamptons in Hollywood, and The Upstart Crow on The Universal Citywalk, and took film production classes at The American Film Institute. He explored different belief systems, and became involved with organizations that help teen-aged runaways, recovering addicts/alcoholics, El Salvadorian refugees, and senior citizens.

In '91 he formed The Rainbow Man Productions, a company that produced his one-man stage shows - Spirit Of The Unicorn, Creative Warrior Kit, iMaginE, Until The Looms Are Silent, Trusting The Sky, and The Rainbow Man - benefiting humanitarian causes and ultimately logging hundreds of performances in many diverse venues.

In '97 David and his collaborator Marie Rackham wrote and produced a musical called Rediscovering The River.  In '99 he formed a digital repertory company, Splashes From The River Inc., with its production studio based in Campbell River to facilitate his growing desire to live quietly and close to nature.

David's philosophy of life is that the greatest work of art is your life itself, created every moment of every day by the choices you do or don't make, and the actions you do or don't take.
